WRITER BIO: I specialize in writing drama for film and television. More specifically, I enjoy writing works based on or inspired by true stories. I studied Digital Filmmaking & Video Production at The Art Institute of California - Los Angeles. My first industry job was interning for director F. Gary Gray, working on films like Law Abiding Citizen and Straight Outta’ Compton. I briefly worked as an Associate Producer, producing indie feature films such as LUV, nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. I eventually segued into screenwriting, penning my first feature script, American Thread. American Thread is based on the true story of Ann Lowe, an Alabama seamstress who became the first prominent African-American fashion designer embossed on Madison Ave in New York City. I'm a former cohort of Mara Brock Akil's Writer's Colony. Mara's Writer's Colony is a breeding ground for creative collaborations. The Writer's Colony is an invitation-only program for emerging writers of color whom Mara mentors directly. I’m originally from the Bronx in New York City and reside in Los Angeles. One thing I learned about being a good writer is that it’s 3% talent and 97% not being distracted by social media.
