WRITER/PRODUCER VALERIE WOODS
Valerie C. Woods is the Emmy winning Co-Executive Producer/writer for the Disney+ series The Crossover (2023). She was also a Co-Executive Producer/writer for the AppleTV+ mini-series, The Big Cigar (May 2024), ) and Co-Executive Producer/writer on Season 2 of the Netflix drama series Sweet Magnolias (2021-22). She also worked in the same position for Season 4 (2018-2019) of the critically acclaimed television drama series Queen Sugar, airing on Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Ms. Woods is in development, through her MCV Productions banner, on the television adaptation of A Cowboy to Remember, the Cowboys of California trilogy of novels by Rebekah Weatherspoon. Also in development is a television adaptation based on Wrapped in Rainbows – The Life of Zora Neale Hurston, the award-winning biography written by Valerie Boyd.
During Valerie’s 25+ years as a member of WGAw, her credits include Co-Executive Producer/Writer on the drama series, Any Day Now on Lifetime Network. Her episode “Family is Family” was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award and Consulting Producer/Writer for the drama series, Soul Food on Showtime Network. Her career began after being awarded a Screenwriting Fellowship with Walt Disney Studios (1993).
As one of four instructors trained by acclaimed screenwriter author and teacher Syd Field, Valerie has served as Creative Director for Syd Field – The Art of Visual Storytelling platform. She also taught as Adjunct Faculty in the Stephens College Low-Residency MFA in TV and Screenwriting program (2016-2020). In Fall 2020, Valerie joined the University of Georgia as a Screenwriting Mentor in their Low-Residency MFA in Narrative Media Writing.

Forbes Africa 30 under 30 recipient Kemiyondo Coutinho is a multi-hyphenate writer, actor, and director who writes for the fish out of the water. Whilst her storytelling plays double dutch between hard-hitting themes and sharp-biting comedic commentary, the through line in all her work remains making people feel seen. A self-proclaimed African nomad, Kemiyondo credits attending boarding school at UWC High School, which was home to students from nearly 60 nationalities at any given time, with providing the foundation for how she views the world.
Garnering multiple international awards, including NBC Universal's Harness Social Impact Award, her short film KYVENU made a loud directorial debut. Kemiyondo is also the inaugural recipient of John Singleton's Filmmaker's Fellowship, Kevin Hart's Laugh Out Loud Filmmaking Fellowship, Shadow & Act's Rising Star Award and has been named one of OKAYAfrica's 100 Women of Africa To Watch.
In the spirit of promoting Ugandan Female Filmmakers, she founded the #fivefor5 initiative, which grants five Ugandan female filmmakers the opportunity to produce a short film of their own.

WRITER BIO: Hi, I'm John Wells III! I'm a writer and storyteller with a deep love for fantasy, adventure, and creating stories that connect with people on a personal level. I’m the author of The Last Angel Warrior, The Heir of Ambrose, and The Invisible City, and I’ve been lucky enough to share these stories with readers who are as passionate about imaginative worlds as I am. I grew up in San Diego, California, and attended the Savannah College of Art and Design, as well as California Baptist University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree.

LOGLINE: When the bodies of sex workers in a West Texas freedmens town start to pile up, a local doctor discovers a mythological African creature is to blame and must uncover its conjurer before it's too late.
WRITER BIO: Born and raised in Texas, Kendra considers herself a Southern-fried maverick who loves to tell Southern tales just South of somebody's God. A Jill of all trades, she began writing at 8, and acting at 10. She earned a B.A. in Journalism from Texas State University, where she was part of the E-Board that revamped the only Black theatre group in the university's history. She's also earned an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from the University of Georgia and has since continued to place in and win several major screenwriting competitions/fellowships. As a drama and genre screenwriter, her accolades for both TV and Film include being a 2nd rounder in the Black Boy/Girl Writes Fellowship and NBC Universal Fellowship; A Semifinalist for Final Draft Big Break, Nicholl Fellowship, and the AFF; a top 25 finalist in the Outstanding Screenplay Competition; and a winner of WeScreenplay's Feature Competition and Stowe Story Labs Sidewalk Fellowship.
